Below is an important reminder from your Winston Trails Board of Directors. Please take a moment and review the information.
Earth Tubes Installed along the Lake Banks: Homeowners who live on a lake in Winston Trails should be aware there is an on-going project through-out Winston Trails to repair the erosion of the lake banks. Earth tubes have already been installed on more than one-half of the thirty lakes within Winston Trails. The remainder of the lake erosion repair project is expected to be completed within the year. There are no earth tubes installed on a lake bank that is covered by littoral plantings but the earth tube does cover any lake bank area behind homes with no plantings.
If an earth tube has been installed behind your home and you need to make irrigation repairs DO NOT CUT THE TUBE. Do not run the pipe over the earth tube. Cutting the earth tube is expensive to repair and the repair costs will be your responsibility. If you need to make repairs to your lake intake pipe or check valve, you will need to do so without damaging the tube. There is an access pipe located on each lot just above the earth tube which will allow access under the bag.
If you have any questions, please contact the management office before taking action. We will provide contact information so you can make repairs without causing any damage to the earth tube. Currently the lakes are very low and many residents drawing irrigation water from the lake have clogged intake pipes. Your intake pipe must be propped up so that it does not lie on the bottom of the lake. This can be done with a stand on the bottom of the lake or by installing a floatation device at the end of the intake pipe. PVC pipes, plastic jugs, coolers or any other type of float that can be seen from the top of the water is not permitted. Only a device manufactured for this purpose such as the duck floats you see in the lakes are permitted.
